Party Theme Ideas
Organizing your party around a theme is a fast and easy way to make it look like you spent months planning when in fact you may have thrown it together the day before. Of course a face painter and balloon artist can help boost your efforts by suggesting to the party goers a design that goes along with the theme.
If you haven’t decided on a theme for your party or are not sure yet, here are some quick ideas to get you going. Be sure to let your face painter and balloon twister know ahead of time so that they can prepare some special designs just for you.
Boys:
- Pirates Party – Know a Pirate? Have them come and do “pirate training”
- Cars Party – Race some remote control cars for the Cup
- Dinosaurs Party – Hire a person who displays reptiles for parties
- Sports Party – Get the kids moving by having sports activies
Girls:
- Princess Party – Hire a “Princess” to anoint all of the junior princesses and teach them the ways of Princessness.
- Fairy Party – Have a Fairy give all of the Fairy guest their wings
- Hula/Hawaiian – Hire a hula dancer to teach the girls how to Hula
- Ballerina Party – Hire a ballerina to teach the girls how to dance ballet and hand them their tutus
Mixed:
- Carnival Party – Games, prizes, and fun face painting
- Dance Party – Turn on the black lights and disco ball. Hire a hip dancer to teach the kids the latest moves. You can provide guests with glow sticks and glow things as party favors.
- Craft Party – Get the kids into creating a lasting memory by having them make something
- Cupcake Party – Kids can decorate their own cupcakes. You can have them make a bunch and allow them to take home the cupcakes in a small cake box. A cupcake making kit is also a great party favor. You basically just put a bare cupcake in a little box with all the trimmings for the kids to make it their own.

Day of the Dead Face Painting Design | Face Painter in Orange County
This recent Day of the dead face painting design by Brenda Bourges was inspired by of course non other than El Dia de los Muertos, the Mexican yearly tradition of honoring the dead. Although Brenda is a face painter in Orange County, any face painter is capable of doing their interpretation of a Day of the Dead sugar skull. It’s fun, extremely shocking and you can get pretty creative in decorating the skull with fancy swirls and curls, teardrops, gems and glitter.
For this day of the dead face painting design I used:
- Wolf Brothers white and black
- Diamond FX light blue
- Diamond FX pink
- Diamond FX purple
- Diamond FX yellow
- Diamond FX red
- Mama clown gems
If you are a face painter or aspiring to be one, this skull face is a sure hit for your portfolio.

Need More Business? Hire a face Painter!
If you need more families to visit your business, hiring a face painter is a sure bet on doing just that. Kids love getting their faces painted and parents will go out of their way to please their kids. With competition and economic challenges, standing out above the competition is what it’s all about. Of course you will need to promote and advertise to your local community and let them know that on whatever day of the week you have FREE face painting, but once the word is out, or you place a big sign right on the street outside of your business, traffic will be coming your way. Not to mention that you’ll be the talk of the town.Hiring a face painter is especially great for businesses that are typically not very exciting. I was recently hired for an insurance company at a car show. Families flocked to the booth non stop. We had a line the entire day and our insurance agent clients loved every minute of it. This too can be the case for your business or booth.
When hiring a face painter, be sure to check out the quality of their work and ask them how many kids they can cover per hour. Also be sure to ask if they use professional face paint such as Wolf Brothers, Diamond FX, Snazaroo, Kryolan or Mehron. Next, ask if they have insurance and have them bring a copy of their insurance policy to the day of the event.
The general hourly rate for a face painter is $55 to $120 depending on your location. Although this may seem high, there is allot that goes into the job. Good painters spend time and money on quality supplies, education, insurance, and transportation. None of which is cheap.
Try hiring a face painter to attract more potential customer to your business and let us know what your results were.

Organizing a Face Painting Fundraiser
A great way to raise funds is by having a face painter do the work for you! Many face painters offer their time for a good cause in an effort to help raise funds. You can ad a face painter to a carnival, school event, silent auction, and many other fund raising efforts and ask that all or part the proceeds go towards your cause.
Halloween is a perfect time to organize a fund raiser for schools. Offer a transforming look for a few bucks and if your face painter is fast and equipped with great designs, you can easily rake in $300 to $1,000 in one day.
Typically, face painters will expect that you will allow them to hand out their business cards or fliers in exchange for their time, and or share proceeds. Any published photographs of the painters work should be credited with the painter’s first and last name and perhaps their website address.
